"THE MOST TRUSTED NAME IN WORLD-WIDE HUNTING"

Moose Hunting In Russia (Magadan region)

Hunt Location and Details:

Russia is becoming the most popular place for avid hunters to harvest a big Moose.  With very remote areas only accessible by helicopter and the lack of resident pressure, it is easy to see why this hunting location holds large numbers of big Bull Moose.

The tent camps are strategically placed along rivers and creeks which are prime habitat for Moose and allow for easier access of the region.

The hunting area itself is located in the far eastern regions of Russia known as the Magadan Region.  Northwest of the Kamchatka Peninsula just on the inside of the main land of Russia.

How to Get There:

After you arrive in Anchorage, Alaska by one of the many American airlines, you will overnight and then fly from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk, Kamchatka the next morning.  Petropavlovsk is located on the Southeast corner of Kamchatka, approximately a 4½ hour jet flight from Anchorage.   There you will re-fuel the jet and continue on to Magadan which is approx another 2 ½ hours.

Depending on flight schedules, an overnight may be required in Magadan.  Then from Magadan, a transfer by bus, and a helicopter for the final leg of the trip into the various hunting camps.

Flights can also be arranged through Moscow, which may give more flexibility on arrival and departure.

Hunting Conditions and Methods:

You will be hunting in areas very similar to those of Alaska and the North part of the Western Canadian Provinces.  The methods and conditions will be very similar to those of the North American Moose Hunting.  The habitat is virtually the same.  Heavily forested areas with open swamp and muskeg spots.

Transportation while hunting will be done by boat and by foot.

Hunting Dates:

The Moose season runs from late August to early October.  You would likely arrive in Magadan around September 20th.  Flight arrangements will be organized for you and you will travel with a group of hunters.  As in North America, from early September until the end of the month is the rut for the Moose and has proven to be the most successful time.

 Accommodations:

You will stay in wall tents that are equipped with wood burning stoves and cots.  In some cases you may go to a camp that has a cabin.  Tents are very comfortable and the food is good. There is an out-house for facilities.  Small spike camps will also be used.

Itinerary:

·        Day 1: Arrival in Magadan by regular flight, possible overnight in hotel.

·        Day 2: Depart to camp by bus 8 hours, then flight into the hunting camp.

(helicopter flight, if needed, is included in the price of the hunt.)

·        Days 3  -10:  Hunting days

·        Days 11-12: Helicopter transfer from camp to bus then departure to Magadan, overnight, departure for home.

**Please note that the above itinerary is approximate and may vary slightly**

Summary:

Hunters at this time must remember that they are hunting in a very different country than that of their own.  With this in mind, these differences in cultures make this hunt an adventure in itself. With a little hard work, you should be able to collect a very fine trophy and create memories that will last a lifetime.
