Coues and Mule Deer Hunting in Senora, Mexico

These hunts are done in the state of Sonora, Mexico, which is just south of Arizona. The hunts for Coues deer, Mule deer, Desert sheep, Gould’s turkey, Javelina, and Doves are available and can be arranged with either rifle or archery equipment.

The 2027 season will be our Outfitters 19th year hunting in Sonora, Mexico. They continue to harvest some excellent Coues deer every year. Mule deer hunting has also improved with the addition of new ranches that they have acquired.

Our Outfitter is actively involved in all aspects of the hunting on these ranches with their own vehicles, ground blinds, tree stands, tools, gear, etc. They travel down to Sonora the first part of December every year and put blinds and stands up personally on the ranches. They are very particular about ground blind set up, to ensure that hunters can have the highest success possible.

The trophy quality of the Coues deer, the facilities, houses, cooks, sincerity and hospitality of the people, the safety and support these people provide, the large ranches they are fortunate to hunt, the freedom they have to hunt on their own and do what they want, six full days of hunting, etc., make this a very unique, selective, attractive and enjoyable hunt.

How to Get There:

Traveling to the hunting areas in Sonora, MX is simple. Daily non- stop flight(s) from Phoenix, AZ (PHX) to Hermosillo, MX (HMO) are available on American Airlines.

Hunting Dates:

Most of the hunts are conducted in the months of November through February, depending on the species being hunted. The Coues deer hunts include 6 full days of hunting and are mainly conducted in the month of January and half of February. Dates of other hunts are figured out and agreed upon, on a case-by-case personal basis, depending on what the hunter prefers.

Hunting Conditions and Methods:

Hunting methods vary depending on the species hunted, weapon of choice, time of year, specific ranch, etc. The archery Coues and Mule deer hunts are mostly done from blinds and stands. Bow hunters can expect shot distances of 20 yards or less normally. The rifle hunts are from blinds overlooking larger and longer distances.  Spot and stalk methods, and some high rack hunting vehicles may also be used.

Accommodations:

Accommodation varies depending on the species and the particular ranch you are hunting. Lodging is normally in ranch houses on the property. This normally includes beds, bathrooms, flush toilets, and hot water for showers. Some ranches have extremely fancy well stocked houses and some ranches have simple basic housing. A few of the ranches used have nice wall tents for sleeping.
